Collective Obsessions 2 is a photographic investigation into the current level of acceptability of the use of female sexual images in Australian society.  Every day we are bombarded with images of sexuality and in particular female sexuality in the never-ending campaign to sell something. These images look down on us from billboard posters and out from newsagents' windows in the form of magazine covers; Cinema and theatre posters frequently try to attract our attention with lascivious content; In our homes, the ubiquitous television screen plays a big part in filling our days with images of sex. I am the father of three small daughters and as I witness this daily parade of stylised sexuality I wonder what effect it has on the minds of the young women these images are meant to represent, appeal to or inspire.
 
I am interested also in obsessive collectors and their collections. More specifically I am intrigued by the parameters set by collectors for gathering the objects of their desire and the point at which the collection of a thing ceases to become a pastime and becomes an obsession.  In accordance with the obsessive collectors ethos, the boundaries for my collection are that the images should be of breasts; shown on free to air television, so no video or pay per view; and be unnecessary to further the plot of the program.

 
Collective Obsessions 2 is a collection that not only titillates but also pushes societies boundaries and is a visual comment on how society deals with those ever expanding extremities.
