| This exhibition was launched at INFLIGHT's new gallery at 237 Elizabeth Street, Hobart.. Sydney based artists Gladwell, Griggs and Moore take their subject matter from the popular image culture that surrounds them. Gladwell's video portraits scrutinize civil space and public architecture through performative interventions. Griggs investigates and evaluates modes of popular image-culture communication. His work draws on such topics as environmental destruction, war, violence, horror and aggression through a picturing of the world often associated with irreverent and alternative sub-cultures such as rock and roll album cover graphics. Moore's video works draw upon the language of music video clips, advertising and film. His subjects are caught out of context, lost and wandering through streets or maniacally dancing around monuments and fast food restaurants. | |||
