Tristan is a performer, visual artist and curator. Recent exhibitions include 'Waste Oil' in Behind the Scenes at the Museum   Yarra Sculpture Gallery, Melbourne (2006), the solo show Amazing New Car Gala-Launch Spectacular, Salamanca Arts Centre (2006), and 'Puppet Aid' in Fellow Anthropoid, CAST Gallery, Hobart (2005).  

In 2006 Stowards undertook the CAST Emerging Curator mentorship, through which he curated Corrupting Youth. In 2004 Tristan travelled to the Czech Republic to study traditional wooden marionette making.

He has appeared in several short films backed by Screen Tasmanian including Bruni (2004), Starring Xavier, Pavement Films (2003), Ghostland, Furry Films (2002), and The Rivulet, Snug Films (2000). His lecture 'How to Modify Your Mini' played in Ten Days on the Island, ( 2005) and The Village , Falls Festival (2006) . He co-presents Home Brand Breakfast on Edge Radio 99.3fm.
