Jamin has been a member of INFLIGHT since 2005, performing several roles in that time including that of Chair from 2006-2008. He holds an MFA from the Tasmanian School of Art, University of Tasmania (2008), and is currently employed there as a sessional staff member in Painting, Graphic Design and Core Studies. Primarily working with spray paint, and those forms associated with the street, Jamin's art practice engages with politics, popular culture and the media, often combining these themes into seamless montages reflecting both personal and collective contemporary concerns. In 2008 Jamin was selected for 'Contemporary Australia: Optimism', a major triennial exhibition presenting leading contemporary Australian art at the Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA) in Brisbane. His solo exhibitions include: Inertia Force Change Inertia (Criterion Gallery, 2008), First We Take Paris, then We Take the World (Devonport Regional Gallery - Solo Commission 2007) and Tasmania: Explore the Possibilties (INFLIGHT, 2007). He is also regularly involved in group and curated exhibitions and projects around Australia. Jamin established Die Laughing Collective in 2004 with Paicey and Empire, and was a founding partner of Red Wall Gallery in 2006 with Claire Field. Jamin is represented by Criterion Gallery in Hobart, and is also a board member of Contemporary Art Spaces Tasmania (CAST). |
