Neil Haddon (b. 1967 Epsom, England) moved to Tasmania, Australia in 1996 from Barcelona, Spain where he had been working as an artist and teacher for six years. Haddon has worked as a visual artist since 1990 and has exhibited in the UK, Spain and Australia. Recent solo exhibitions include Stranded at Criterion Gallery, Hobart and Dianne Tanzer Gallery, Melbourne. Group exhibitions include The Arthur Guy Memorial Art Prize, Bendigo Art Gallery. His work is held in several private and public collections internationally and by Artbank, Sydney, The Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, the University of Tasmania, Devonport Regional Gallery and the Gold Coast Arts Centre (acquired from the Conrad Jupiter’s Art Award). Haddon’s painting Survivor (del tink gyp flynn) was the winning entry in Tidal, the City of Devonport Art Award 2006 and in 2008 Purblind (Opiates) was the winning entry in the Glover Prize. His work has been written about by Daniel Thomas, Edward Colless, David Hansen, Ashley Crawford, Jane Rankin-Reid, and Jorge Luis Marzo and has been reviewed extensively. Haddon was a founding member of INFLIGHT A.R.I., Letitia St Studios and LSSp Project Space, Hobart. In 2002 he was awarded a MFA from the University of Tasmania and since 1999 has lectured in Painting, Drawing and Digital Imaging at the School of Art, UTAS. |
